Pitch 3 Lights are up and on! (October 07, 2005)

The lights go on!
Finally we can announce (a bit late) after many years of effort the clubs second set of floodlights are now up and operational.  The lights wereswitched on for the first time on pitch 3 at the start of September and are a superb addition to the Clubs assets.

These new lights allow training and floodlit matches to be played away from pitch 1, saving the Club’s premier pitch for first team matches and other prestigious floodlit games.  The difference in pitch 1 compared to last year is already easy to see.  Many thanks must go to Tony Smith with help from Paul Chapman for their tireless efforts over eight years to first, get planning permission and then secure the funding from the RFU (who paid for the lights in full). Dave Morgan also contributed greatly in negotiating the new licence agreement for the pitches with CBC. Without the licence we could not have obtained the funding.

There will be an official “Turning On Ceremony” when the RFU publicity machine gets itself into gear later this year.
