ENGLAND rugby star Sam Twomey has been named the Park and Bailey Sportsperson of the Year.
Twomey, 16, who attends St Wilfrid's School, won the gong at the Crawley Youth Awards on Thursday 6th November for his achievement in the sport.
Sam has been playing at Crawley Rugby Club since he was seven and has represented Sussex at Under-15s, as well as taking part in the Harlequins development programme at Brighton. This summer he was selected for the England Under-18s squad. His dad, Mike, who himself played for Crawley for 20 years as a prop forward and back row could not believe his son has gone this far. He said: "It's just reward as Sam works very hard at his game. He has an excellent attitude and wants to become a professional."
Chairman of Crawley RFC Tony Smith said: "Sam has shown true commitment to his club, friends and most of all family throughout the last two years and we wish him all the best in following his dream to make the full England team in the near future."
