Youth Rugby – “Crawley U14’s win final league match of their season”
After recent disappointments in friendly fixtures against Hastings and Lewes but a confident winning performance against a touring Guernsey team, Crawley’s U14 team had their final league match of the season away against Bognor last weekend.
The Crawley team have recently undergone some intensive training sessions supported by other coaches within the club, this has been much appreciated and seems to have worked wonders, the team showed this renewed confidence with a 36 – 14 victory.
Within minutes of the start of the game Crawley had broken through twice in quick succession with tries by Chris Feasby and Ross Keeley. By half time this lead had increased to 24 – 0 with further tries from Billy MacGavin and Jamie Howard.
Jamie Howard scored his second try of the day with a great piercing run down the wing. However, from then on the game was very different, with renewed vigour from Bognor their intense pressure finally resulted in them scoring mid way through the second half.
Crawley however immediately responded with a strong pick up and drive from their prop Tom Roscoe. Bognor did manage to score another try but by then the game was out of their reach.
Apart from good performances from all of the scorers, strong supporting performances by Taz Zembashis, Ben White and Andrew Griffiths must be noted.
